In older installations, the board may be covered with plaster, and its name may not be in the documentation. Before making corrections, it's worth gathering information instead of matching a new product solely by colour. Proper identification helps determine the function of the layer and the required repair method.
Look for markings and history
Check installation documents, invoices, and previous photographs. Record the model of the insert and a description of where the sheet is located. If the edge, packaging mark, or label is available, photograph it along with a scale.
Record the thickness, format, and method of fastening without accidentally changing the construction. The appearance of the surface alone does not determine all material properties. The description should separate confirmed data from those you have not yet identified.
Compare the function of available products
HT Fireboard has described protective and finishing tasks. Fireplace Construction Board CS is used for specific fireplace constructions. Do not treat both names as a general designation for any sheet in a heating device.
Vermiculite Fire Board is another insulating material with its own range. Format and temperature are only part of the data. When substituting, you must also consider support, covering, finishing, and the requirements of the entire insert.
Only then determine the repair
Mark the damage, the routing of the joints, and the condition of the substrate. If the identification remains unclear, confirm the correct material and solution for the specific device before purchase. Do not cover the important edge with the compound until the necessary information has been collected.
Store the source data, the chosen product, and the method of work. A photo before finishing will later allow recognizing the actual layer layout. During the next repair, it will be possible to compare the documented detail instead of guessing the material again from an unnamed fragment with an unknown history.
